Why I Started

My journey with sewing began at an early age. Growing up in Birmingham, I learned how to make clothes at school and later honed my skills in college, where I mastered the art of pattern making. During the lockdown, I rekindled my love for sewing by making face masks, which inspired the name of my business Sew Lets Face It.

When restrictions lifted, I expanded my creations to include small accessories like toiletry bags and glasses cases. I soon discovered my true passion for crafting bags, totes, backpacks, and crossbody bags quickly became my specialty. While I occasionally make dresses or skirts, bag-making is at the heart of what I do, and I’m always exploring new designs and ideas to bring to life.

Since the start I have always used domestic machines. My very first was a New Home nearly 40 years ago which I still have on display in my sewing room. I now use a Juki - DU 1181N for all bags and a Brother iNovis V3 for embroidery

I’ve spent the last three years living in the charming village of Kineton with my cat, Shadow. Together, we enjoy the tranquility of village life, which provides endless inspiration for my creative journey.

I draw much of my inspiration from the world around me, especially from conversations with locals about their preferences, interests, and needs. Observing trends in my community and understanding what resonates within my village and the county of Warwickshire, helps shape many of my designs.

I invite you to be part of this creative journey with me, as so much of what I create is influenced by the charm and character of the area I call home. Together, we can celebrate the beauty of local craftsmanship and shared inspiration.
