Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine before or just need a refresher, our Beginner Sewing Classes are designed to help you build confidence and skills in a fun, supportive environment. Over four weeks, you’ll go from learning the basics of a sewing machine to completing your first project!

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll learn each week and what to bring to class.

Week 1: Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine (25th April 2025)

What You’ll Learn:

  • Introduction to the different parts of a sewing machine.

  • How to thread a machine and wind a bobbin.

  • Adjusting stitch length, tension, and speed.

  • Practicing basic stitches (straight, zigzag, and backstitch).

What to Bring:

  • Your sewing machine (if you have one—loaner machines may be available).

  • A spool of all-purpose thread.

  • Notebook and pen for taking notes.

By the end of this session, you’ll feel comfortable setting up and using your sewing machine, ready to start stitching with confidence!
